All passengers aboard?

In Amsterdam, Dublin and many other cities, people usually like to spend some time on a ship. But what about Rostock?

Feel like listening to the rolling waves of the river Warnow? Come and join the amazing MS Georg Büchner , situated directly at Rostock harbour and offers either a stay in the youth hostel section or beautiful hotel rooms. Prices vary from around 19€ in the hostel section up to 30€ in one of the hotel rooms. It’s up to you to decide whether you want to arrive by car (you’ll find enough parking spaces) or by tram (station Kabutzenhof) .

If you’d like to eat a bite, you can go to one of the various restaurants, bars, and pubs near the ship. You could choose one of the cheaper pubs, like the homelike Alter Fritz , which is an old brewery inviting you to have a drink in a typical pub atmosphere. Whenever you feel like drinking a beer, you’ll get the chance to relax in the smoking or non-smoking rooms of the restaurant. Beer is not just any ingredient: most of the dishes are stewed in German’s most popular drink. You think that’s strange? You would never ever eat anything made of beer? Bit afraid? Perhaps, no cause for alarm. It’s incredibly delicious just like in many Czech restaurants, too. No-one will be disappointed. Promised!!! You’ll certainly be surprised by the interior: coppery cauldrons in gleaming brightness surrounded by red brick stones immerse you into the world of the old hanseatic life-style. What’s more: Have a walk outside and jump into one of the many boats around the harbour. Of course, you might decide to eat Greek, Italian, or Spanish meals in the various locations around offering international cuisine. The “Schokoladerie” offers a wide range of sweet products made of cacao and chocolate (even a chilli hot chocolate drink) of highest quality as well as self-made souvenirs. Candies and truffles, diligently prepared by the local confectioners, will get you addicted right away!

But of course, if you just want to enjoy the harmonious atmosphere, take a chair or sit down on one of the benches at the waterside. Fishing is one of the most important attractions. Don’t hesitate and put your fishing-rod in your travelling bag if you’d like moored. The ship itself was once used by seamen to travel to the world’s end. Nowadays, it stays at Rostock harbour and gives people options to have events or conferences and of course overnight stays on board. Among other considerations, why don’t you marry there?
