Summer feeling at the beach

It has finally happened. Summer has reached northern Germany and now pampers its people with long days of sunshine, warm brises and thriving nature. I really have to say that I just love those days of summer. With that brightly shining sun and the pleasantly warm air around me I feel happier, healthier and prettier than any other time of the year. I suppose that is why I, just as almost anyone else, constantly feel the need to enjoy that kind of weather and to spend as much time as possible outside; I mean who knows how long it’s gonna last. Naturally, the question comes up, where to spend that time outside? Here are my top three sunshine places:

1. my balcony

2. my parent’s garden

3. the beach

Since neither one nor two is available to you, I’m gonna write about the beach. 😉

First of all, there are lots of beaches around Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania; so make sure to visit more than just Warnemünde and Kühlungsborn for beaching. I would actually recommend avoiding hot spots like the places above during summer season (July-August) because they are packed with tourists and locals at that time. Honestly though, you won’t find an empty beach anywhere during that season. That is why I try to enjoy the nice days of the off-season as much as I can. Now, in May, you are actually able to put down your towel at the beach with enough space between you and the other sun worshipers that you won’t hear each other’s conversations. And well yes, the water of the Baltic sea is still freezing cold at this time of the year; but look on the bright sight – you will get enough refreshment from just dipping your toes in the water. 😉 On those early summer days, it really isn’t too bad to go Warnemünde because it’s easy to get to and you don’t have to worry about food and drinks and restrooms. So, what I’m trying to say is this: If you get a chance, don’t hesitate; use the early days of summer and enjoy some almost private beach time. You won’t regret it 😉
