spring adventure in the Rostocker Zoo!

Spring in Zoo Rostock means a lot of cute little animals and exploring the “zoo” world. The weather is so nice at the moment and the animals enjoy the sunny days as much as the people. You can see little rabbits running like high speed cars, camels jumping around the hills, or little monkeys hanging around their mother’s belly. Additionally you can also visit an old resident: The elephant Sara. She is 50 years old and one of the oldest zoo elephants in Europe. You can also have a look at penguins, reptiles, tigers and lions. There are special feeding times where you can watch the keepers feeding specific species.he “Elefantenlodge”, “Café Käfer” or the “Kindertraumland” and many many more ice cream and sausage places tohelp you out.

A new part about the zoo to look forward to will be the “Darwineum“. It will be opened in the summer of 2012. The “Darwineum” is going to be the new home of several monkeys and other tropical animals.

But how can you get there? You can take the tram number 3 on weekends and the number 6 during the week from the main train station in Rostock. Your direction is “Zoo, Neuer Bahnhof” (“zoo new trainstation”). Another option would be the bus number 28. Just leave the bus or tram at the station “Zoo” and there you go. Your adventure can begin. 🙂
