21. May 2011 | 11 AM – 1 AM | KTV-Festival
The upcoming weekend offers a real highlight for everyone who is still wondering what to do!
On Saturday, 21st May, the KTV-Festival will take place. Themed “Blaumachen – KTV macht blau” (KTV celebrates), this event will attract people from all over Rostock.
What is the KTV you wonder? It’s a part of Rostock and stands for “Kröpeliner Tor-Vorstadt”, named after one of the old town gates (“Kröpeliner Tor”). Generally considered to be the town’s trendy district, it is inhabited by many young people and is popular with students.
This year’s festival is the 15th and it has been a great success in the past. There will be two stages: the larger one can be found on the “Margaretenplatz”, and a smaller one is at the junction between “Barnstorfer Weg” and “Ottostraße”, but there are also numerous small stalls of shops showing samples of their products and others where you can buy something to eat or drink.
Why should you go to the festival? There will be a varied programme with something for everyone. It begins at 11 a.m. with samba drums to wake you up properly. During the day, you can see short dance, music and theatre performances as well as some street artists.
In the evening, there is live music played by local bands like Hanghuhn Roadshow and ROCKVALLEY. The Circus Fantasia will also present a spectacular show with fire and drums at 10:30 p.m., which you really shouldn’t miss!
Check out the official timetable here!
There’s usually a mix of young people, families, students, tourists and people who live in the KTV – a colourful and diverse crowd. The streets are full of people and the atmosphere is great. So join the locals and celebrate!
The festival starts at 11 a.m. and ends around 1 a.m. the next day.
How to get there:
As the KTV is right in the city centre, you can take any tram (except Tram 2) and get off at the stop called “Doberaner Platz”. If you’re taking Tram 2, the closest stop is “Schröderplatz”. From both it’s just a short walk and then you’re right in the middle of the festival.
Depending on how long you stay not all trams will be available. In that case you can take the night busses F1 and F2, also from “Doberaner Platz” or “Schröderplatz”.
You can find all timetables at www.rsag-online.de Just enter your starting point (under “von…”) and “Doberaner Platz” or “Schröderplatz” as your destination (under “nach…”) to find your individual connection.
Everything is open air, so make sure that you’re dressed accordingly in case the sun refuses to shine this weekend.
Have fun in the KTV this Saturday!
